We definitely tried to go for capsule wardrobes. For me, that meant several dresses, two pairs of jeans and four shirts. Since we were traveling in the fall, I wore a nice, warm and packable down jacket on the plane and took a jean jacket I’ve had for years. I strapped our yoga mat to my backpack to allow for working out wherever we are!
I also took makeup and a toiletry bag with enough to get started, although we will buy things as we go. I packed a number of OTC medications I thought we might need too!
I had planned to fit everything into my backback. Never a light packer, as we neared our departure, I decided to take along a tote as well. It allowed me extra room, and I’ve used it to carry medications, my headphones, kindle, a travel blanket, etc. I’m planning to empty it when we arrive in a destination and use it to carry my computer around or grocery shop!
Bret’s Packing list:
Proof longsleeve Henley’s (two of these)
Lululemon longsleeve button-up (two of these)
Cotopaxi hat
Hokas running shoes
You’ve probably noticed a lot of Merino wool on this list! Our traveling friends the Tristaos provided that tip — and Bret definitely spearheaded the effort to find the best Merino wool items. They are high-quality and the fabric is uniquely odor resistant. For that reason — Merino wool can be expensive, but there are so many discount codes and sales, it’s usually not too hard to buy at a discount!
